Matt reaches National Cupcake Championship finals
Catermasters will now have two people challenging for victory in the National Cupcake Championships after chef manager, Matt Gransden, reached the finals of the competition.
Matt heads up the Catermasters team at Avon in Northampton and has won through to the last 15 in the ‘classic' category after his white chocolate and raspberry panna cotta cupcake impressed the judges.
Matt will now join his Catermasters colleague, Kam Sokhi, in the finals that will be held at the Cake International Show in Birmingham on 9th November.
"I'm not an experienced baker so I'm pleasantly surprised to make it to the final," the 30-year-old explained. "I'm pleased my first cake impressed the judges. But I've now got a good few weeks to perfect the next batch of 12 that will be judged at the finals and I plan to make the most of it."
A total of 350 amateur and professional bakers have entered the National Cupcake Championships this year, but only 47 have made it to the finale on 9th November.
